Now, onto me and my views regarding art itself:
Some people go by the impression that art has to be visually pleasing, elegant, realistic and generally beautiful; I don't disagree in the slightest. I find the expression of human emotion, even at its blackest and bleakest to be profoundly honest, and in that sense it is more beautiful to me than an impersonal portrait of roses. I don't believe there is a right way of doing it, but I believe it is wrong to paint something lifeless. How can you connect with people if there is nothing in the image for them to relate to emotionally? Art is personal, and all I can paint is what I see. If it is dark and horrible, then so be it.
